Bio Information
I, as all, have been taking snapshots for as long as I can remember. Whether it was setting up the old 35mm point-and-shoot from childhood or the first digital camera my family purchased (a Kodak 3.1 megapixel point-and-shoot). In high school, I gained an interest in furthering my abilities in photography, and began to look into it at an amateur level in earnest.
In 2006, I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase my first digital SLR camera: a Canon 350D (or Rebel XT in the USA). This turned my hobby into a passion, and since then I have been as active as further schooling and work has allowed. Armed with a Canon DSLR and a Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 lens, I experimented in every possible field of photography, from architecture to landscapes, portraiture to abstract. I yearned to do this not just as a hobby and passion, but professionally as well.
Upon entering the University of California, Riverside, I was immediately hired as a photographer for the campus's student-run newspaper, the UCR Highlander. Within two months, I was promoted to staff photographer. This was perhaps my great learning experience yet, as not only were my limits at the time pushed, but new challenges were forced upon me. I was no longer shooting for myself, but I had deadlines to meet, writers to coordinate with, and layout designers to answer to.
On top of that, the assignments I was given challenged my still underdeveloped and amateur abilities. I was forced to shoot in challenging situations I had not yet encountered or had limited (at best) experience in. My technical and creative limits were pushed in every imaginable aspect, and as a photographer, I matured.
class="bodytext">In the spring of 2008, in the middle of a job shooting US mint proof sets that were to go on auction, my equipment was stolen out of my car. I lost nearly $1500 in equipment, as well as memory cards full with more than a thousand images that had not yet been transferred. Two weeks prior, the external hard drive I had used to archive all of my raws and finished photos was damaged and unreadable. However, thanks to the help of a friend, I was able to purchase new equipment, and now on a technical level, I am stronger than ever.
Please feel free to browse this website. I welcome any and all critique/comments.
If you would like me to cover an event you are hosting, need portrait shots, product shots, whatever, please contact me and let me know. I as of yet do not charge for any of my services. As long as our mutual schedules can work out, I am more than happy to offer my services as a photographer in exchange for the experience working with you would provide.
Thank you
